Bishop Mirosław Gucwa, shepherd of the Diocese of Bouar in the Central African Republic, has responded to the needs of people with disabilities, especially children, by taking the initiative to build a Rehabilitation Center. In addition to providing access to health services, the center will prepare patients for specific professions, tailored to the type and degree of their disability. The task of construction has been entrusted to Ms. Ewa Gawin, a lay missionary who has been serving in Africa for over 35 years.
The center will consist of four independent buildings, which will include: a complex of medical offices; rooms for group and individual rehabilitation; an occupational therapy room for vocational training; a counseling center for families; a prosthetics and plaster room; rooms for patients requiring long-term care; a field kitchen with a dining area; verandas for social gatherings; utility and storage rooms; as well as housing for volunteers and a space for farming. The total cost of the investment is PLN 1,935,000.
"Since 2013, the Central African Republic has been experiencing a political crisis, marked by very difficult and even dramatic moments, especially when armed gangs clashed with government forces. Many people were killed, and thousands of families were robbed by rebels of everything they possessed. Now the situation is gradually improving. The heads of the armed forces have signed an agreement with the president and are beginning to surrender their weapons - a result of both political negotiations and prayer. We often ask God to disarm hearts and hands, and it is beginning to happen! Just as our Lord walked the earth doing good, healing the sick, the lame, and the blind, and raising the dead, so we, His disciples, wish to follow His example. I believe that Christ, working through us and specialists today, will perform miracles for the disabled through the construction and operation of the Rehabilitation Center in Bouar. I express my sincere gratitude for every donation, whether in the form of 'Good Coins' or a bank transfer. I pray for you every day," wrote Bishop Mirosław Gucwa, shepherd of the Diocese of Bouar in the Central African Republic.
We are carrying out the project "Construction of a Rehabilitation Center in Bouar, CAR" in cooperation with the Missionary Department of the Diocese of Tarnów.
