Children from the Gaza Strip and people with disabilities in the Central African Republic will receive concrete support thanks to two new missionary projects implemented in cooperation with the Missionary Department of the Diocese of Tarnów.
We are launching two unique missionary projects in cooperation with the Missionary Department of the Diocese of Tarnów, both aimed at bringing real help to those most in need. The first, "Viva Papa Leone – Aid for Children in the Gaza Strip", focuses on the youngest victims of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
As part of the project, children and young people from the Diocese of Tarnów created a song entitled "Viva Papa Leone," blending local Tarnów folklore with Peruvian music. The song not only promotes fundraising but also recalls the long-standing tradition of missionary carolers in Poland. "The song dedicated to Pope Leo has a special mission: to support children in Gaza and to remind us of the Holy Father's concern for the poorest and for peace in the world," explains Father Maksymilian Lelito from the Missionary Department of the Diocese of Tarnów. Funds raised will be transferred to the Holy Family Parish in Gaza through the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, whose mission is to help the poor and marginalized. The project also includes a novena to the Child Jesus for the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, showing that support can be both material and spiritual.
The second project is the "Construction of a Rehabilitation Center in Bouar, RCA," initiated by Bishop Mirosław Gucwa, shepherd of the Diocese of Bouar. The center will provide medical care and rehabilitation for people with disabilities, including children, and offer vocational training tailored to the type and degree of each disability. The project is being carried out by Ewa Gawin, a lay missionary who has been serving in Africa for over 35 years.
Bishop Gucwa emphasizes that despite the difficult political situation in the country, which has been affected by conflict and rebel attacks since 2013, conditions are gradually stabilizing thanks to prayer and negotiations. "As a Church, we try to help the most vulnerable. I believe that Christ, working through us and specialists today, will perform miracles for the disabled through the construction and operation of the Rehabilitation Center in Bouar," wrote the shepherd of the Diocese of Bouar.
On November 16, parishes in the Diocese of Tarnów will launch a “Good Coins” collection campaign to support the construction of the Rehabilitation Center in Bouar, RCA.
