“I Don’t Have a Church Anymore” – our film from Jamaica

Seven months ago, Hurricane Melissa – a Category 5 cyclone – swept through Jamaica. Winds reached speeds of over 300 km/h. Within just a few hours, the town of Savanna-la-Mar and the parish of Father Piotr Sierzchuła were completely devastated...

Today, Jamaica is slowly recovering from those dramatic events, but the road to rebuilding is still very long.

“I don’t have a church anymore” – these moving words deeply touched our hearts. That is why we want to help rebuild the parish of our missionary in Jamaica. As part of our Lenten Almsgiving initiative, the Sacred Heart Missionary Family organized a fundraiser to support the reconstruction of the parish church at Father Piotr’s mission.

One of the missionary’s greatest concerns is the well-being of children and young people. The new church – besides being a place of prayer – will also include a space dedicated to working with the poorest youth.

Giving the floor to our missionary, we invite you to watch this short report from Jamaica.
