New candidates enter to the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Philippines.
On August 4, 2025, the feast of St. John Mary Vianney, patron saint of priests, the formation community of the Dehonian Priests (SCJ) in the Philippines experienced a particularly joyous moment. During a solemn Mass presided over by Fr. Ronald M. Basco SCJ, eight new candidates were officially accepted into the Congregation.
New members of formation will begin their religious journey at various stages:
- 6 candidates have started preliminary studies,
- 1 candidate entered the adaptation year,
- 1 candidate joined the aspirantura.
The newly admitted come from different regions of the Philippines: six from Mindanao, one from Visayas and one from Luzon. Their diverse backgrounds reflect the richness and unity of the Philippine Church, which continues to enjoy vocations to religious and priestly life.
Including the newly admitted candidates, the SCJ formation house in Cagayan de Oro now has 29 members, including 3 postulants. This is an eloquent sign that the Heart of Jesus continues to move the hearts of young men, calling them to live in the spirit of Fr. Leon Dehon, founder of the Congregation.
