“Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:8). These words of St. Paul remind us that love does not end with death and that we can continue to honour our loved ones through prayer. As part of our Missionary All Souls’ Prayers, we invite you to submit the names of your departed loved ones, whom we will remember in prayer throughout November, entrusting them to God’s mercy.
All Souls’ remembrances are about more than remembering those who have passed away. They are an opportunity to give thanks for their lives, for the goodness they shared with us, and for the love that remains part of our story. They are also a moment to entrust to God those who may no longer have anyone to remember them. In November, a month dedicated in a special way to remembering the departed, we invite you to join us in prayer for our loved ones and all those we entrust to God’s mercy.
As the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us, all the faithful – those still on earth, those undergoing purification after death, and the saints in heaven – form one communion in the Church (cf. CCC 962). Praying for the departed is an expression of this unity and of a love that transcends the boundaries of life and death. It is also a sign of hope that our loved ones are in God’s hands – the God who knows each of them by name and desires the salvation of all.
The Secretariat for Foreign Missions of the Priests of the Sacred Heart invites you to submit the names of your departed loved ones as part of our Missionary All Souls’ Prayers. Throughout November, a special Mass will be celebrated for their intentions at the Mission House in Olsztyn, Poland, and their names will be read aloud by the Priests of the Sacred Heart during Eucharistic Adoration. Together, we will surround in prayer those we hold dear, entrusting them to God’s love and mercy.
Voluntary offerings made as part of the Missionary All Souls’ Prayers will support the construction of a school in Mozambique. In this way, remembering those who have passed away can go hand in hand with caring for those who are just beginning their lives, giving them access to education and the opportunity for a better future.
Submit the names of your departed loved ones and join us in prayer.
May the words of St. Paul, “Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:8), remind us that love entrusted to God endures and that prayer can be the most beautiful expression of our remembrance.
